Grantham has one of the best leisure complexes in the East Midlands on Trent Road. The Grantham Meres Leisure Centre has gym facilities, swimming pools, a sports hall and a purpose built table tennis centre. On the same site are artificial tennis, hockey and football pitches as well as the South Kesteven Stadium, home to Grantham Town Football Club and Grantham Athletic Club.

Visitors to Grantham are often unaware of the amount of parkland and open spaces close to the town centre.

This includes agricultural land, Wyndham Park, managed by the National Trust, and a series of walks by the river and through fields.

Wyndham Park itself includes a paddling pool, and a former outside pool now used by the Grantham Model Boat Club. A gate includes a plaque noting the route used by soldiers on their way to the front during the First World War.

Visitors new to the town can follow footpaths off Avenue Road or St Catherines Road in the town centre and just keep going!

Grantham has a good range of shops for a town of it’s size. As well as the main shopping streets there is the Isaac Newton shopping centre. The historic George Hotel has been preserved as a shopping mall.

Every Saturday there is an outdoor market stretching from the Market Place along Westgate. The market continues until 5pm, but the mornings are the best time to visit.
